I trigger the alarm, the brushing against
Evacuate, this jolts me
This is accidental, it is this and other
Early morning encounters with a prostitute...i
Have never got a light...and rodents that give
Me the zig zag headache
I am convinced of this
Don't be afraid to try
What when where why
In the company of the Happy
Gang and the sedated psychotic, i await
The arrival of analgesics because
Even the most spiteful Lover will
Be at your feet, so says the divine
Personality, across this acreage it is
Difficult to argue as the
Natural arrives, is a natural too
Is so loveable, is so office
Depot material...we go to the
Filling station with this
Man Jesus, it is not far from
Wednesbury, this place name always
Inspires backseat jokes that rise above
A Jimmy, a shandy and a cassette and that
Involve days of the week...
What day is it?
It's Thursbury...
And so on, but
Safe in the knowledge, well we were
In our industrial footwear
They take poppers in good faith
Post poetry to the heartland and
We name-drop the latecomers
As i brush up on my fieldwork, i am outbound
To the Medway, in so choosing
I eat stewed fruit, this is medicine
I relax, listen to the music of columns and await
With the volume down, a
Favourite television drama...the
Preceding one i dislike...well, what
Is one to do when a love affair is over?
When an angel walks into one's
Life?
